Tin Mechanical Banks: Hand-Painted Charm from a Bygone Era

After cast iron tin is probably the most prized material for mechanical banks. As noted elsewhere, Salheimer and Strauss manufactured many of these early in the 20th century. Other manufacturers both in Europe and the USA also made them and continued to make tin banks over the years. More recently, it is out of favor after being overtaken by plastic. However, the hand painted lithography on these banks and their creativity makes them very appealing.
